Suzanne has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2009. Before that she pursued a career in academia and taught at universities in the Indiana and Nevada while pursuing advanced degrees in Communication Studies, Rhetorical Studies and English. The study of human thought, language and experience intersected and found a home in Marriage and Family Therapy. Suzanne works with clients to help them make sense of their experiences, traumas, addictions and life’s daily challenges by using Evidence Based interventions that allow each client to examine their thinking, decisions and behaviors. Suzanne believed in “meeting people where they are” to create an individual plan for each client. This tailored approach allows clients to gain awareness of who they are, what they want and to create meaning and purpose. Life is complicated and unpredictable and the insights gained in therapy will help each clients make better, more confident decisions as they move through their lives. All clients can expect compassion, empathy and maybe even some laughter! Areas of special interest include addiction, family dynamics and addiction, stage of life changes, and relationship challenges.
Suzanne also welcomes the opportunity to help interns and those new to the field. Her knowledge of theory and years of clinical work allows her to help Interns as they pursue the licensing and credentialing process. Suzanne acts as Site and Secondary Supervisor for Interns at Duncan Family Healthcare and works closely with interns as they gain experience necessary for licensing. She also works closely with Dr Duncan, agency APRNs and on site Primary Care Providers in order to provide a more complete package to clients who are in need of those services.
